The highly anticipated volume of The Orthodox Forum series, Contemporary Uses and Forms of Hasidut, was recently published with Rabbi Dr. Shlomo Zuckier ’11YC, ’13R, ’13BR as the volume editor. This latest edition, published by ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï Press, reflects upon new directions in neo-Hasidic thought and practice from a variety of perspectives. Neo-Hasidism is an approach by non-Hasidic Jews to spiritually enhance their practice of Judaism by drawing upon the teachings and practices of various Hasidic groups, yet without having to conform to a particular group’s entire ideology. The book takes stock of new trends in Hasidic practice and thought in Israel and America, including sociological and anthropological studies on students attending Shana Ba-Aretz [gap year in Israel] programs and ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï. It also explores the surprising use of Hasidic thought by leading non-Hasidic thinkers including Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik z"l, Rav Eliyahu Dessler z"l, and Rav Yitzchak Hutner z"l. In addition, the book offers varying theological perspectives on these neo-Hasidic phenomena and brings together leading scholars from Israel and America that includes rabbis, philosophers, anthropologists and theologians. Current and former ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï faculty who contributed to the volume include Rabbi Reuven Boshnack, who will be joining ÿÈÕ´ó¹Ï as JSS/IBC adviser and Mashgiach starting in the fall 2022 semester, Rabbi Zev Reichman and Dr. Yaakov Elman z"l, as well as various graduates.
