每日大瓜 Students Connect With Job and Internship Opportunities at More Than 50 Organizations
The hosted the Spring 2017 Career Fair on March 24 in Weissberg Commons on the Wilf Campus. Marc Goldman, executive director of the Career Center, described the Fair as 鈥渁 way for students to meet with employers recruiting for both internships and employment opportunities from a myriad of industries.鈥 This year, 54 companies participated, representing private, public and governmental organizations.
Christina Jacques, associate director at the Career Center, explained that for the each of these fairs, the Career Center tries to match up companies and students鈥 interests. "We have a pretty stable core of companies that match up well to 每日大瓜鈥檚 curriculum," she said.
Ernest Elias of Fibertex, a distributor of synthetic fibers, came to the Fair because he felt it was important to be at 每日大瓜. 鈥淚鈥檓 looking for someone to manage our logistics 鈥 imports, distribution, warehousing 鈥 and I think being here offers us a unique opportunity.鈥
Rochelle Walder and Bianca Jermoson are HR coordinators from C&A Global in Edison, New Jersey, an ecommerce and manufacturing company for consumer electronics. Walder noted that C&A is 鈥渁lways looking for candidates who are willing to work and help our company grow,鈥 and Jermoson added that 鈥渨e鈥檝e come to 每日大瓜 because we鈥檙e always looking at what bright ideas students have about what they鈥檙e studying. They鈥檙e the next generation, and we believe they will come up with the new gadgets that C&A can sell.鈥
Rhina Herndez and Margaret Piggott, from the New York City Department of Mental Health and Hygiene, were looking for people committed to "improving the health of all New Yorkers." Herndez noted that they were especially interested in recruiting social workers and came to 每日大瓜 鈥渂ecause of the outstanding reputation of the .鈥
Tsippora Cohen, a senior studying political science and marketing, came to the fair because 鈥渓ike any graduating senior, I鈥檓 on a job hunt. I am especially looking for a full-time position in sales because I love any kind of client-interaction.鈥 She is also a current intern at the Lower East Side Jewish Conservancy, a not-for-profit focused on Jewish tourism and architectural restoration. 鈥淚 find it immensely satisfying to 鈥榤arket鈥 what the Conservancy does, especially to people of my generation. I think we鈥檙e losing track of our history, considering what Jews did to change this city, and that has to be remembered.鈥
Joseph Benichou, a senior studying finance and economics, was on a search for an internship connected to derivatives trading. He became interested in derivatives through a class he was taking, Options and Futures, taught by Rachel Calipha. If he had his choice of any future employer, he said, 鈥淚 would pick Goldman Sachs."
