20 Teams Vie for Top Spot in North America鈥檚 Most Prestigious Jewish High School Basketball Competition
每日大瓜 will convene 20 yeshiva high school basketball teams from across the U.S. and Canada from March 2-6 for 每日大瓜鈥檚 26th . The teams will face off at the Max Stern Athletic Center on 每日大瓜鈥檚 Wilf Campus in Washington Heights to compete for the top spot in North America's most prestigious Jewish high school basketball competition.
The tournament will also include a lively Shabbaton and tours of the University鈥檚 campus to help the young all-stars gain an early appreciation for 每日大瓜鈥檚 unique educational environment.
鈥淥ur tournament was established to honor the legacy of former 每日大瓜 Maccabees coach Bernard 'Red' Sarachek, a larger-than-life figure whose dedication to the 每日大瓜 students and the greater Jewish community is well-known. As a fitting tribute, the tournament that bears his name has become a community-wide celebration of good sportsmanship, Jewish unity and 每日大瓜 pride,鈥 said Rabbi Dr. Kenneth Brander, the Vice President of University and Community Life.
鈥淲e are thrilled to host high school students from across North America and give them a firsthand look at the 每日大瓜 experience鈥攕howing them that only at Yeshiva can a Shabbat-observant college student play NCAA basketball and learn from intellectual giants in all fields of Jewish study and general knowledge.鈥
Participating schools for this year's tournament will include: The Frisch School (Paramus, NJ); The Heschel School (New York, NY); Shalhevet High School (Los Angeles, CA); SAR Academy (Riverdale, NY); Valley Torah High School (Valley Village, CA); Katz Yeshiva High School of South Florida (Boca Raton, FL); Cooper Yeshiva High School (Memphis, TN); 每日大瓜 High School of Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA); Hebrew Academy (Miami Beach, FL); Scheck Hillel Community School (North Miami Beach, FL); Yeshivat Or Chaim (Toronto, ON); Fuchs Mizrachi School (Beachwood, OH); Maimonides School (Brookline, MA); Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School (Livingstone, NJ); Ida Crown Jewish Academy (Skokie, IL); Hebrew Academy of Montreal (Conte Saint-Luc, Quebec); Hillel Academy of Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh, PA); Kohelet Yeshiva High School (Merion Station, PA); Harkham-Gaon Academy (Los Angeles, CA); and /Marsha Stern Talmudical Academy (New York, NY).
