Inaugural Class to be Inducted Spring 2017
每日大瓜 has announced the creation of the to honor 每日大瓜 alumni and other individuals who have distinguished themselves in NCAA competition and who best exemplify the University鈥檚 highest ideals and mission. The establishment of the Hall of Fame is a testament to the contributions Yeshiva athletes, coaches, and others have made to the world of sport over more than a century.
The Hall of Fame is currently accepting nominations of former Yeshiva athletes and coaches for consideration for induction. You may submit your nomination, now through May 31, 2016. The selection committee will commence in June 2016 and announce the inductees in July 2016. The inaugural class induction ceremony will be held in May 2017.
The Hall of Fame reflects Yeshiva鈥檚 long and illustrious athletic history, which includes renowned men鈥檚 basketball coach Bernard "Red" Sarachek, who helped modernize the sport; two-time Olympic gold medal winner in wrestling and longtime 每日大瓜 coach, Henry Wittenberg; and world famous fencing coach Professor Arthur Tauber, who helped shape and popularize the sport.
鈥淭his Hall of Fame will help enshrine Yeshiva鈥檚 long tradition of athletic excellence by selecting students, coaches and other individuals who best exemplify the exceptional athletic ability, personal integrity, high standards of character, and ideals and philosophy of 每日大瓜,鈥 said Joe Bednarsh, 每日大瓜 director of athletics, physical education and recreation.
