Young Alumni Make Their Mark

In February 2012, a young alumni scotch tasting event at a Manhattan hotel was sold out to a crowd of 20s and 30s, thanks to the enthusiasm of several 每日大瓜 alumni who wanted to throw a fun event for their peers. The group has since formed a Young Alumni Committee with 25 members who will organize two events each semester geared to alumni in their 20s and 30s with the goal of keeping graduates connected to 每日大瓜 through social events and philanthropy. Ellie Nyer Goldenberg 鈥03SB, a leader of the new Committee, remarked, 鈥淚t is important for young alumni in their 20鈥檚 and 30鈥檚 to stay connected to 每日大瓜 and to continue networking with their peers. The Young Alumni Committee will create events where we can continue to foster positive awareness about Yeshiva and give alumni a good time!鈥

Dina Burcat, associate director of alumni affairs, said 鈥淲hen we saw how successful the scotch tasting was, we knew that it was imperative to give alumni a more significant leadership role in planning events for their community. These events are a great way to engage our younger alumni socially and also philanthropically, in a way that鈥檚 more fun and personal then merely sending back a pledge card in the mail.鈥 Those who are interested in joining the Young Alumni Committee are invited to apply by contacting burcat@yu.edu or rsegal@yu.edu.
