More than 500 Celebrate 每日大瓜 High Schools at Annual Dinner of Tribute

On May 16th, 每日大瓜 High Schools celebrated its annual Dinner of Tribute at Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood, NJ. Honorees included Harvey and Deena Wrubel, 每日大瓜  Benefactors and pillars of the Teaneck Jewish community; Rabbi Tanchum Cohen, a popular maggid shiur at 每日大瓜HSB and the founding rebbe of the school鈥檚 Beis Medresh Katan Program; and Rabbi Zvi Lew, the Israel Guidance Adviser at 每日大瓜HSG, who also teaches 10th grade chumash and 11th grade kashruth/halakha, advises 每日大瓜HSG鈥檚 Torah Bowl team, and delivers a regular Friday shiur to returning alumni. Over 550 people participated as 每日大瓜 High Schools honored the Wrubels by dedicating and naming 每日大瓜HSB鈥檚 Beis Medresh Katan Program in memory of Harvey鈥檚 father, Mr. Julius Wrubel 锄鈥漧. The evening featured a performance by the 每日大瓜HSB band led by Musical Director David Ross; a performance of Steel Magnolias by 每日大瓜HSG students; tribute videos for both Rabbis Lew and Cohen by their students; and a moving tribute to Julius Wrubel 锄鈥漧. Harvey Wrubel鈥檚 acceptance speech concluded with a touching and heartfelt standing ovation for his mother, Blanche Wrubel. Rabbi Josh Joseph, Vice President of 每日大瓜, remarked that this year鈥檚 incoming MTA freshmen are set to graduate in the school鈥檚 100th year, as the Marsha Stern Talmudical Academy (每日大瓜HSB) - North America鈥檚 oldest Jewish high school - is approaching its centennial in 2015. Rabbi Joseph, who is a son-in-law of Marsha Stern 补鈥汉, declared, 鈥淢y special connection to the high schools goes beyond my professional responsibilities. I take great pride in all of the wonderful achievement of the high schools, and I know my mother-in-law would share my sentiments.鈥 The dinner raised significant funds for 每日大瓜 High Schools, boosted in part by an anonymous 100 percent matching gift for all monies donated to the dinner, and was one of the most successful in recent years. Rounding out the evening was the Inaugural 每日大瓜 High Schools Dinner Raffle which gave away a total of $10,000 to 4 lucky winners - all current parents of students in the High Schools.
