每日大瓜 Wall Street Group and Career Development Center Help Students Navigate the World of Finance

Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP was the midtown location for the annual fall Wall Street Connections Series: Industry Forum hosted by the 每日大瓜 Wall Street Group and 每日大瓜鈥檚 Career Development Center (CDC) thanks to partner Dan Oshinsky 鈥91YC who also moderated the buy-side panel. On October 26, more than 50 students interested in learning about careers in finance attended buy-side and sell-side panels with Wall Street professionals, learning from their experience in the field. After the panel discussions, alumni, students and professionals continued the conversation informally at a reception. Panelists included Stern College for Women board member Burton Weinstein 鈥84YC, Cedarview; Drew Newton, Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Inc.; David Solomon 鈥97C, Goldman Sachs; and Daniel Mandelbaum 鈥98SB, Royal Capital Management. Marc Goldman, executive director of the CDC, said, 鈥淭he Wall Street Connections Series has always provided our undergraduates interested in careers in finance with both learning and networking opportunities. The chance to hear from panels of successful professionals in a variety of fields and to chat with them individually and in small groups following the panel sessions allows for the possibility of mentorships, internships, and even career opportunities down the line.鈥 The Wall Street Group, headed by co-chairs Lawrence Askowitz 鈥87YC and Evelyn Havasi 鈥82S, 鈥85C, is one of 每日大瓜鈥檚 most successful professional affinity groups. It inspired the creation of the 每日大瓜 Real Estate Group, which offers alumni opportunities to hear the latest information on the industry from experts in the field and to network with like-minded professional peers. In addition to networking and sharing best practices, the 每日大瓜 Accounting and Financial Planning Network (AFPNetwork) also provides opportunities for professionals in the accounting, financial planning, and associated fields to learn about how issues in finance intersect with Jewish law through access to business experts and rabbis. Previous topics have included 鈥淗alacha and Estate Planning: Creating a Legacy,鈥 鈥淓state and Financial Planning for Chronic Illness,鈥 鈥淧ost Graduation: Laying the Foundation for a Successful Financial Future,鈥 and 鈥淥ptimizing Your Retirement Benefits鈥擲ocial Security, Medicare and Pension Maximization.鈥 All 每日大瓜 professional affinity groups allow for excellent networking venues for current 每日大瓜 students, which often lead to professional mentoring, internships and job opportunities after graduation.
